2008 Six-Man Team Tournament

An added bonus for BASS members (that started in 2006) is the newly introduced Triton Federation Nation BASS Club World Championship (BCWC) presented by Mercury. This new format allows each state (including Ontario, Canada) to qualify a six-angler club team for a national championship event.  The team that wins takes home a fully-rigged Triton/Mercury package for each member, for a total value of $250,000 USD.

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 on Gloucester Pool was the site of the second annual 2007 6-Man BCWC (Bass Club World Championship) Qualifier.

Congratulations to your Team Mississauga representatives who will travel to the Bass Club World Championship Eastern Divisional in the United States this July 19th - 25th, 2008.  The site will be Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York.  The team members are Fraser Muir, Neil Elsliger, Kenneth Hamilton, Kris Wiita, George Halushka and Leonard Eng.

Winners from the Lake Champlain event will proceed to the Bass Club World Championship Finals scheduled for October 6th to 11th, 2008.  Site to be announced.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 2, 2008

BASS DISCONTINUES BASS CLUB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

BASS announced today the organization will discontinue the operation of the BASS Club World Championship increasing focus on its grassroots efforts including the BASS Federation Nation Divisionals, the BASS Federation Nation Championship and the Bassmaster Opens.

As previously announced, Wagoner, Okla., and Fort Gibson Lake will host the 2008 BASS Club World Championship, set for Oct. 9-11. The event will feature 38 six-angler teams that qualified for the championship event through their performance at six regional events.

"We introduced the team format to provide more competition outlets for our Federation Nation members," said Don Corkran, director of the BASS Federation Nation.  "Ultimately, it didn't resonate as well as we would have liked.  We feel that this move will allow us to put more focus on grassroots events with direct qualifying avenues into the Bassmaster Classic."
